My Story
In 2000, my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and passed away in early 2001 when I was just 25 years old. I had a one year old daughter and quickly found out that I carried the same gene that increases the risk of breast cancer, BRCA2. At first, I went through every emotion in the book. Fear, panic, depression. You name it, I had it.
Then I found my saving grace, Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered. They are a great group of women who share my high risk and were there for me when I needed it the most. At age 28, I had a hysterectomy and oophorectomy to reduce my ovarian cancer risk. In 2008, after going to the FORCE conference in Tampa, FL, I made the decision to remove my breast prophylactically (without cancer) in order to reduce my risk of breast cancer. In October of 2008, I traveled to New York and completed my surgery. To read more about my journey, check out my blog.
In the past year, I have tried more bra's than I should have. Grieved over the underwire bras that I realized I could no longer wear. In that search for the perfect bra, I found a passion for that search. I wanted to create a place where women of all shapes and sizes could find comfortable wirefree bras and share what made them work, what made them not work and what they recommend. This site is yours, share your thoughts, give a review. Let's all help each other in finding that perfect bra. I hope you find yours with us.
